Greatest Fireworks Ever! The Great Kumano Fireworks Festival 2008

Sunday was fabulous. The Tan Tans took a train to Kumano city with their new friends, Keita and Winnie (pls see next blog). It was the first time that the Tan Tans have seen so many people in the last 2 weeks.

Interesting as a lot of Japanese were dressed in the traditional Yukata (a summer version of Kimono) as part of their tradition for summer festivals). There was also a major bazaar with lots of stores selling okonomiyaki, taco yaki and others - my fav!

The fireworks display took place by the sea, with thousands of people sitting on the pebbles beach. It was a great experience as it took more than 2 hours for the 10,000 fireworks display to cease.

Anyway, what follows below are lots and lots of photos taken of the fireworks as well video clips. There is this monsterous fireworks which exploded from the sea as well as fireworks in the form of fishes, mikan (orange- i missed that shot as well as that of the doraemon).. Believe at the end of it, I was suffering from Fireworks overdose.

Some of the photos taken. I used up almost 2GB of storage to take the photos and well, couldn't share all on the blog.

This is the heart shaped firework and the fish-shaped one.

And this has to be one of the biggest bang of the night. The fireworks in its raw form was 90cm wide and weighed 250kg. WOW!!
